A few weeks after meeting Raila Odinga at a wedding ceremony, Mr. Matiang'i met former President Daniel Moi at Kabarak during the International Law Conference.

The two leaders were pictured exchanging warmly in Kabarak after the conference.

Lately, a section of politicians have visited the retired President, popularly known as the 'Professor of politics' perhaps to seek his blessings.

Among those who have made high profile visits include President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Deputy President William Ruto, who is keen to succeed Uhuru, was allegedly denied entry in June, a move which caused jitters among Rift Valley leaders.

Mr. Matiang'i, arguably most popular minister in government, is keen to run for Nyamira County gubernatorial seat.

On Monday at Kereri Girls, he hinted a possibility of fielding banker James Keganda as his running mate.

He will be joining Timothy Bosire, Ben Momanyi and several other candidates who have declared interest to succeed Mr. Nyagarama.
