Following Saturday morning when a night guard was shot dead in Garissa, local MCAs are now calling on the national government to step up security in the area.

Led by Galbet Ward MCA Abdirizak Ismail, the leaders now Interior CS Fred Matiangi to issue shoot to kill orders stating that it is the only measure that can help curb security in the locality.

"Security officers in the area should intensify their day and night patrols. The Interior CS Fred Matiang’i should also issue shoot to kill orders for all suspected robbers to curb cases of runaway crime," Abdirazak stated.

The MCA further urged locals to desist from harboring suspects even if they come from their own sub-clan.

In the early morning incident, reports indicate the night guard was shot dead as he recited his al-fajir prayers. 

However, police are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene of the crime in a bid to unmask the killers.
