Bonchari MP John Oyioka said Mutyambai must ensure security is beefed up throughout his tenure.

Oyioka said terrorism is a thorn in the flesh for Kenyans and the new IG must deal with it head-on.

"Despite the fact that I agree that Mutyambai is fit for the job, I have one doubt, will he end terrorism and unnecessary murders? My humble request to him is that he should bring to an end attack caused by Al-Shaabab, any other gang group and extra-judicial killings," he said.

Oyioka challenged Mutyambai to also bring sanity in the police service adding that rogue police officers should be weeded out.

He insisted that operations in the service should run smoothly.

"Throughout Mutyambai's tenure, we as Kenyans expect to see police officers collecting bribes dealt with accordingly," he stated.

The vocal lawmaker, however, warned Mutyambai against teargassing protesters adding that everyone should have right of expression and holding a peaceful protest.
