There was drama on Wednesday when county acting governor Amos Nyaribo prematurely cut short his speech following agitations by medics over delayed salaries.

For two months now, county government workers have reportedly gone without salaries even as the leadership struggles to give an appropriate explanation.

And while launching Sh121 million salaries, Nyaribo's speech was often interrupted by nurses who accused him of incompetence before he decided to prematurely end speech and rush to his office.

"We have gone two months without salaries and the county is not giving satisfactory explanations. That is why we stormed this function," said Richard Orutwa, the Nurses union boss.

Understandably, Nyaribo has been holding brief for Governor John Nyagarama who is in the US for treatment.

Afterwards, Nyaribo defended salary delay saying that it was orchestrated by the governor's continued absence from duty for two months now.

"There is problems with signatory because the governor is not around. The issue will be sorted out soon," he said.
