In a tweet, Sifuna encouraged the church to reject funding from politicians, as much as some of them are claiming that they are contributing with good intentions.

He added that the church must be able to lock 'thieves' off the church, in a salvo fired at politicians alleged to be using proceeds of corruption as donations to churches.

He said that not all hands are allowed to build the house of God, stressing on the need for the church to reject help from 'known thieves'.

"The Bible is clear that not all hands are allowed to build the Lord's house. This is the reason God would not allow David to put up a temple for Him in Jerusalem. The Kenyan Church must follow this example and reject "donations" from known thieves," said Sifuna.

This was an indirect shot at the DP whom the party had been accusing of engaging in massive theft of public sources and cleansing it through church offerings.

In a rejoinder earlier, Ruto said that he will not stop making his contributions, though he has been on the spotlight for making questionably big contributions on a weekly basis.

Two large denominations have so far banned politicians from their pulpits, these being the Catholic and Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK).

ACK has as well encouraged other churches to follow suit and prevent politicians attending services from politicking at the pulpit.
