A day after signing legendary Kenyan Harambee Stars national side Dennis 'The Menace' Oliech, Kenya Premier League defending champions Gor Mahia has come out to explain the chemistry behind the same.
According to 'Kogallo' Chairman Ambrose Rachier, the team's striking force has been weak after the exit of Rwandese finisher Meddie Kagere who left in June.
The Ugandan-born talented striker left he Kenyan side to join Tanzanian giants Simba Soccer Club, a situation Rachier says left a gap which they needed a guaranteed scorer to fill.
The 33-year old who has been missing in action from the local scene for 15 years has also impressed Gor Head Coach Hassan Octay who seeks to strengthen his new side, added Rachier.
"We all know he has a proven goal scoring record despite the negative reports around him.
The coach feels he will deliver having watched him in training, also, we’ve had deficiency of outright strikers since the departure of Kagere (Meddie)," he told the Nation on Thursday.
Oliech, a former forward for France's AJ Auxierre has penned a two-year contract with Gor at a coat of Ksh 3 million, a move that will see him pocket Ksh350, 000 monthly in salary.
He is expected to make his first debut for Gor on Sunday, when he will be facing his former team Mathare at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani in Nairobi.
