On Wednesday, the prosecution said it is determined to ensure aspeedy trial and justice to the victim.

Led by Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecution, Catherine Mwaniki, the prosecution said witnesses will give oral and written testimonies.

Mohamed Aden and Juliet Njoki are charged with Mukhtar's attempted murder.

The suspects had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge and are out on Sh500,000 bail.

Mukhtar, 34, was shot in his car on August 19, 2018 in Nairobi's Kileleshwa area.

The former Minister has a bullet lodged in his head and is in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at their Nairobi home.

Last year, Mukhtar was flown to India for specialised treatment.

He was, however, flown back afer doctors said there is nothing they can do to help him.

The medics said it will be too risky to remove the bullet in the former minister's head.

Mukhtar's family is demanding for justice for their son.

The trial against the two suspects is before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.
