A Nairobi mother has been arraigned in court over the brutal attack of her 10-year-old son.
Grace Wairimu, a resident of Dandora, was accused of the heinous act which occurred on March 15, 2019.
The court was stunned after the prosecution team narrated how a tipsy Wairimu arrived home late and picked a quarrel with the minor.
The prosecution told the court that the suspect was angry that the boy had not done domestic chores as she had directed.
“She took paraffin and doused the boy before setting him ablaze,” the prosecution said.
The victim cried painfully attracting neighbours who rescued him. He was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Angry neighbours threatened to lynch the mother.
The boy, investigating officer said, sustained serious burns on his body and is recuperating at KNH.
Women attending the court session covered their faces in pain as the investigating officer narrated the heinous act.
The case will be mentioned on March 28.
