A teacher being held over claims of defiling and impregnating a class eight girl in Kisumu, on Saturday made headlines as he attempted to escape from law enforcers.
The tutor who was being held at Awasi police station following his arrest on Friday, managed to get away from the police, before making an unsuccessful dash to freedom.
He was, however, nabbed by police officers about 200 metres from the station, before being transferred to the Ahero police station.
The daring escape was confirmed by Nyando OCPD Leonard Matete, who noted that the suspect saw his chance when he was being moved to the crime office, from his cell, to have his fingerprints recorded.
The police boss added that they have sufficient proof to nail the suspect, a teacher at Waganga primary school, after allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl at a local lodging.
"We have all the evidence that puts him at the center of the crime," he was quoted by Standard.
He said that the girl is admitted at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), after a botched abortion attempt engineered by the teacher, allegedly in collaboration with the girl's aunt.
"The girl was still bleeding by yesterday when she was found by a Good Samaritan and rushed to the hospital," he added.
