Police officers consuming alcohol in Nyamira County have been warned against excessive alcohol consumption.
Nyamira County Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru said police officers who will be found consuming alcohol will face the law.
"During the Christmas celebration police officers must be vigilant to protect the people and not consuming alcohol in bars and chang'aa dens. Any officer found drunk while at work will be sacked, arrested to face prosecution," he noted.
The county boss urged members of the public to report police officers going to chang'aa dens to drink chang'aa and collect bribe more especially during the Christmas celebrations.
"Making of chang'aa and selling in outlawed and therefore, police must fight the illegal business and not condoning it," he stated.
He reiterated that security will be tight before, during and after Christmas celebrations.
Nakoru warned parents against misusing money to drink alcohol saying schools will re-open next year for their children to return to school.
"Parents and guardians must start saving money from now because their children will go back to school next year. Christmas will come and go but, children must go to school," he added.
