Migori senatorial hopeful in the concluded by-election has finally opened up on his personal relationship with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) successfully defended the seat courtesy of former Cabinet Minister Ochillo Ayacko, as Oketch appeared second.
However, speaking on Radio Maisha Monday morning, the youthful aspirant noted that his relationship with Raila remains spotless despite campaigning against him in the race.
He also stated that the former Prime Minister remains his political role model, lauding his push for democracy in the nation.
‘’Raila remains my leading role model because of what he has done for the nation. I have nothing personal against him,’’ said Oketch who was at one point a member of the Orange party.
He expressed confidence that the same is the case on Odinga’s side, observing that the veteran politician never attacked him even when he pitched camp in Migori to drum up support for Ayacko.
‘’Raila himself did not attack or mention me in any of his campaign events. I don’t think he has anything against me either,’’ he added.
Oketch, however, took issue with some of Raila’s lieutenants led by Suna East lawmaker Junet Mohammed who repeatedly bashed him, linking him to Deputy President William Ruto.
