Police in Homabay are investigating an incident where a man was found killed and his head chopped off.
25-year-old Erick Ochieng's headless body was was found in Maguje Village, according to a report on Mediamax Digital on Saturday.
His head was reportedly chopped off by unknown suspects in Kanyach Kachar in Homabay town, before it was found by a herdsman.
Confirming the incident, Homabay County Commander Marius Tum said that they arrested the wife of the deceased on Friday.
He added that the latter is helping them with investigations.
The police boss noted that a trail of blood directed his officers to a home in the village, adding that they will soon solve the puzzle and apprehend the perpetrators.
"We’re interrogating the deceased wife. We are seeking for more information that will help us apprehend the culprits,” he is quoted.
Area Chief Bernard Omuga said that they suspected the man might have been murdered elsewhere and his body disposed in the area.
According to witnesses who spoke to the media house, the body had deep cuts in the neck, waist and abdomen, a demonstration that he might have been killed.
The body was moved to the Homa bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary pending further probe.
