The National Transport and Safety Authority has released official data on roads accidents in 2018.
According to the data, Nairobi county is leading in the number of fatalities with 411 deaths.
Kiambu county comes second with 270 deaths while Nakuru comes third with 230.
About 2,917 people died on the roads since January an increase of 250 deaths compared to 2017.
Mombasa recorded 46 deaths while 96 deaths were recorded in Mombasa. Machakos, Kericho and Makueni counties recorded 178,124 and 105 deaths respectively.
The data adds that privately owned commercial and public service vehicles contributed to most deaths on the road.
The vehicles accounted for 69 per cent of the deaths recorded.
Motorcycles, and hit and run vehicles follow closely with 486 and 373 deaths. Government vehicles at 37, tricycles at 10, pedal cycles at 11 and handcart at 1 close the list.
November recorded 246 deaths, an increase of 6 from last year. This comes at a time when the government reintroduced the Michuki rules.
The government has launched a nationwide campaign to end road accidents.
