Kisii County governor James Ongwae has confirmed that the county will receive additional 8 milk coolants.
Speaking on Wednesday when he welcomed the Principal Secretary, State Department for Livestock Harry Kimtai and his delegation to deliberate on the improvement of production in the dairy production the county boss said the milk coolants will help dairy farmers manage their milk production.
"Kisii county will receive additional 8 milk coolants that will be installed in all sub-county headquarters and help farmers manage their milk production. The first two coolants have been installed at Agricultural training centre (ATC) and Ogembo," he noted.
The ODM allied governor said the additional milk coolants will promote value addition to the produce and consequently start yoghurt production.
"The project overall goal is to increase the income of poor rural households that depend substantially on production and trade of Dairy Products for their Livelihoods," he added.
He challenged Kisii residents to embrace modern methods of farming to boost yields.
"Residents practising farming should use modern methods to boost agricultural production. My government is committed to ensuring farmers benefit from their farming activities," said Ongwae.
