Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has fired back after he was condemned for failing to congratulate Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i who was recently promoted.

Speaking on Monday evening when he condoled the family of Thomas Ondara, a brother to former MCA for Boochi Tendere Ward, Shem Ondara following the death of his son, Marktone Thomas, Maangi said he didn't oppose Matiang'i's promotion. 

"No one is not happy about Matiang'i's new role in government. Those claiming that I'm jealous of Matiang'i's new roles in the Jubilee government are desperate only seeking relevance in politics," he said. 

He challenged local politicians to shun retrogressive politics adding that clinching elective posts won't be a walk in the part in 2022. 

The county second in command reiterated that he is determined to ensure Kisii residents are served with equality. 

"As leaders in office and those seeking elective posts, we must be true and always put the interests of our people at heart. Spreading propaganda won't add votes to any one of us," he added. 

He dismissed urged county residents to ignore divisive politicians.
