Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has requested Siaya Senator James Orengo to help him return to the country by compelling the government to honour court orders allowing his return.
In December 2018, High Court ruled that Miguna's deportation to Canada was unlawful and in violation of the Constitution.
Justice Chacha Mwita said the firebrand lawyer was a Kenyan citizen, noting his birthright was not affected when he acquired a Canadian passport.
"I find and hold that he did not lose his citizenship upon acquiring a Canadian passport," said Justice Mwita, as quoted by Daily Nation.
He awarded Miguna Sh7 million compensation and ordered the State to return his passport and facilitate his return to the country.
More than six months later, the vocal lawyer is yet to receive his passport or issued with a new one and the government has refused to facilitate his return.
As a result, Miguna now has asked Senior Counsel Orengo to challenge President Uhuru Kenyatta to obey court orders and allow his return to the country.
"Viva, Senior Counsel. Now, tell Uhuru Kenyatta to obey and comply with Justice Mwita's Judgment. Be consistent and call out Uhuru Kenyatta for refusing to return my valid Kenyan passport and refusing to allow me re-entry into Kenya," he tweeted on Sunday.
Miguna was responding to a tweet in which Orengo was celebrating a court ruling which ordered the government to pay the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Sh4.1 billion from the political parties fund.
"With my colleague Julije Soweto Aulo we got this for the party. National Treasury has to comply with clear and mandatory judicial orders. Political parties also have enumerated rights under the law. Viva ODM!" Orengo tweeted.
