According to Ngunyi, the Kikuyu community might not necessarily vote for Ruto.

In his latest edition of The Fifth Estate, Ngunyi opined that the relationship between Ruto and Jubilee affiliates seem to be strengthening and straining at the same time.

He said Ruto would be making a big mistake in assuming Uhuru and the Central Kenya community would automatically support him.

Ngunyi further explained that while Uhuru would not mind a relationship with Ruto after his second term, the fact that the DP has shown immense support for him since 2013 did not mean Uhuru owed him votes.

“Ruto should not approach 2022 as a ‘mali for mali’ affair which is a transaction not a relationship. Because Gema is exiting power the next 20 years, they want a relationship not a transaction. To tell the Gema community that a debt should be paid is to tell them that once a debt was paid, there will be no relationship,” one of Ngunyi's students said.
