In an interview, Don Bosco, who was released a couple of weeks ago, also rubbished a section of politicians, mostly his friends, who pledged to pay Sh15 million to secure his freedom.

"None of politicians from Kisii or Nyamira visited me in prison leave alone helping me to clear the fine that the court imposed.

"Only Raila Odinga, William Ruto, James Ongwae and Oscar Sudi stood with my family. Ordinary Kenyans visited me throughout the five years in Arusha," he said.

Mr. Gichana pleaded guilty to money laundering and fraud charges and was subsequently sentenced to five years on top of the fine.

However, he didn't serve the jail term since he'd been in custody for an equivalent period. He was arrested at Namanga boarder in 2013.

Just ahead of his homecoming, the businessman cum politician is taking a rest in his Mombasa home where he has been meeting friends and family members.

In 2007 elections, he is credited for funding Raila's campaigns by even donating the famous Hammer that drove Odinga throughout the country.
