Renowned business news anchor Terryanne Chebet of Metropol TV has poured out her heart over a controversial song making rounds on social media.
Terryanne on Friday night sent a passionate appeal to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) to take action on the youthful group for what she termed as promoting violence against women.
Through a statement shared on Twitter, the Metropol TV general manager observed that the video of the song was horrific and an outright enactment of the killing of Ivy Wangeci.
Ivy was a final year medicine student at Moi University. She was murdered by her boyfriend, who used an axe in the broad daylight murder in Eldoret.
"Dear DCI Kenya, Ezekiel Mutua; there's a music video doing rounds called 'pigwa shoka' that's enacting Ivy's killing and basically asking young men to kill slay queens. It's horrific to say the least. I hope you can act on it with speed. Urging whoever has seen it not to share," her tweet read.
Her appeal quickly found the KFCB boss who confirmed having raised the concern with YouTube. Dr Mutua expressed confidence that the video which had attracted about 9,000 views would be pulled down from YouTube.
The journalist went on to urge social media user to join any efforts that would aid tame the loss of young Kenyans over love life.
"We are losing our young people. It's a national crisis that needs to be addressed by all of us. It may sound like a blanket statement but every single young Kenyan is worth saving from this nonsensical things," stated Terryanne in another tweet.
