A famous witchdoctor was left homeless after angry members of the public raided his home and set his grass-thatched house on fire on Saturday in Bokeire village, Riana ward in Kisii County.
Residents led by Geoffrey Onyancha claimed that the witchdoctor, Peter Miruka has been killing innocent people in the village.
“Miruka has been killing people in the village under unclear circumstances. We had to set his house on fire to teach him a lesson,” said Onyancha.
Onyancha said one week ago, Miruka sent a snake to his mother who he has been at loggerheads with.
Area chief, Edward Machana confirmed the incident and said the witchdoctor escaped unhurt during the incident.
“Nothing was salvaged from the house. All the witchdoctor’s witchcraft items and snakes were burnt by fire,” said Machana.
The administrator said the witchdoctor will have to find an alternative home to live since his house was reduced into ashes.
He urged residents to stop taking the law into their hands and report crime suspects to authorities for court processing.
