President Uhuru Kenyatta risks failing in delivering on his key pledges notably war on corruption and the Big Four Agenda, a Jubilee MP has warned.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has observed that the people the President has trusted to help him score on his promises had allowed room for laxity and cautioned the Uhuru-led government may disappoint at the end.
Without mentioning names, Kuria said some Cabinet Secretaries were not eager to deliver and asked the Head of State to deal with them ruthlessly.
"Wacha huruma (stop pardoning them). He needs to crack the whip. He needs a room in State House where he beats up people not delivering," he stated on Monday.
Speaking during an interview on Hot 96 FM, the vocal MP lauded Uhuru's move to appoint Interior CS Fred Matiang'i as the chairperson of the National Development Implementation and Communication Committee, noting it was a step in the right direction.
"In this era of the handshake, we need to help Fred Matiang'i to push the CS's to deliver to the people," he said.
Kuria's remarks come at a time the President has vowed to sack cabinet secretaries who fail to deliver.
In a Cabinet meeting last week, he demanded dedication to duty and unmatched excellence from his juniors and promised to sack those who engage in other businesses particularly the 2022 succession politics.
"During today's Cabinet meeting I reminded our Cabinet Secretaries that there are many young Kenyans who are willing and ready to work if they felt they are not up to task. Those who've chosen to keep politicking instead of serving the people should be ready to give way," Uhuru said on Thursday.
