At 95, the octogenerian has literally been spending most of his time in Kabarak, where various dignitaries visit at times to monitor his progress, 17 years after his retirement.

But Ms Halake, who was among the team that visited Mzee Moi on Sunday, says the former president still has a sharp memory, and can remember regions among them her Isiolo backyard.

"What an honour! And what a privilege to have spent Sunday afternoon with our retired President, our father, Baba Moi. I am humbled and extremely GRATEFUL for this gift. I am in ewe and continue to be in ewe with his wisdom even with his advanced age," she tweeted.

She added: "I don't know what would describe or do justice to how I felt in his presence - and what a presence MashAllah! When I introduced myself and told him am from Isiolo, he remembered our county and its people with much fondness. I have no words, What a blessing! Thank you Baba."

While several dignitaries visited his Kabarak home a fortnight ago following the death of Jonathan Moi, the retired president could not, however,  make it to the funeral service. At Kabimoi, he was driven by his aides to pay last respects to his son.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga also visited Moi on Sunday at Kabarak. Mr Odinga, who is reportedly keen to forge and alliance with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, was accompanied by his elder brother Oburu Oginga.

"Visited retired President Daniel Arap Moi at his Kabarak home to condole with him following the recent passing of his son Jonathan. We continue to wish strength to the former President and his family. May God grant them peace during this trying time," Raila wrote.
