According to the county chief, parental negligence in the county is on the rise prompting many school girls to drop out of school to sleep with older men for them to earn a living.

“Irresponsible parents should be blamed for increased prostitution and school dropouts in the region. It is time all stakeholders should intervene and ensure no minors are dropping out of school,” he noted.

Nakoru said young boys who have also dropped out of school to join bodaboda business are sleeping with young school girls, something that is risking their lives because they are in danger of getting diseases.

“Male children have dropped out of school to operate as boda-boda riders. This has also contributed much to the high cases of prostitution in the county. The security team is working around the clock to ensure there are zero cases of school dropout and prostitution,” he added.
