This is after president Uhuru's visit in Kisii last week where he commissioned development projects at Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital, where no woman or youth was allowed to speak.

Rachael Otundo claimed that it is only men who spoke at Kisii High school where the Head of State met opinion leaders drawn from Kisii and Nyamira counties.

"No woman or youth was given an opportunity to talk during the president's visit. It is sad that the organizers didn't slot a space for women and youth to air their views given that, that was a meeting for all the leadership across Gusii region. The reason why women and youths were kept out of the speeches can't be established. It is now evident that Governor doesn't value women and youths in his government," she said.

Angered Ms. Otundo said despite women leaders being present at the meeting, the organizers failed to give the opportunity to the leaders to speak.

"On behalf of women, I'm very bitter because we are being taken for granted by male politicians. It is time the leadership of the county came out publicly and explain why youth and women were ignored," she added.

She urged women to come out in large numbers to seek elective posts so that their impact can be felt in the country's political arena.
