Seventh Day Adventist church politics precipitated the decision by evangelist Randy Skeete to leave Kenya for Kampala after his two aborted missions.
Mr. Skeete, will now minister in Uganda after a disastrous outing that saw politics rock SDA church for the first time in as many years.
“I will be at Mt Olives SDA Church, Kampala, Uganda, this weekend. I look forward to it,” Mr Skeete said in a tweet.
Trouble started in South Kenya Conference which had allowed Newlife SDA church to invite the preacher for a one week camp meeting.
However, despite church members contributing for his air ticket, their neighbours, Kisii Central SDA were reportedly not happy.
Equipped with bigwigs in the society, the Kisii Central team protested to the conference thus leading to the first aborted mission.
“Wapendwa wa Kenya, I will not speak for the Kisii Newlife camp meeting. I do not know the background details, but humbly accepted the decision. May God grant me another opportunity. I will speak at Gloryland Church, Nairobi. God bless the Kisii brethren," he tweeted.
The evangelist added: "“My Kisii brethren, sometimes as Christians we must accept decisions we do not like. That is part of Christian growth. God is good.
A similar fate would strike Pastor Skeete after his mission at Gloryland SDA was rejected by Central Kenya Conference under unclear circumstances.
Politics within SDA church are common but not as controversial as the latest clashes.
Kisii Central SDA is mother Church to Newlife and insiders say that the former was unhappy that a small church would host a preacher of that stature.
