The case will be similar in Nyanza where a number of sitting politicians are very likely to lose judging by the situation on the ground.

Here are some of them.

1. Samuel Atandi

The Alego Usonga lawmaker has since his entry into office spent most of his time getting himself into controversies which has with time made him look like a poor leader.

He is facing three cases revolving around violence and assault, including allegations of assaulting a Siaya County Education official late last year.

He has also been missing in action as far as contributions in the Parliament are concerned, which might make him one of the many one-term MPs in the region.

2. Olago Aluoch

The Kisumu West MP has succeeded in miraculously bouncing back to parliament during elections, and is now serving his third term on the rival Ford Kenya party ticket.

Its worth noting that Kisumu and other Nyanza counties remain predominantly under the former Prime Minister's Orange party.

It is very unlikely that he will succeed the ODM wave this time round, especially in the instance that Raila vies for the presidency come 2022.

With 2022 appearing like his final hope judging by his growing age, Raila will obviously not be taking any chances.

He is likely to do his best to ensure that he has as many elective seats to ensure that he gets the 'tyranny of numbers in both parliaments.

Should he not rejoin the ODM party, Aluoch who is now froing into a threat should expect a strong campaign against him which might succeed.

3. Anyang' Nyongo

He is the sitting Kisumu Governor who despite being ranked the best performing governor, is battling several family issues, including a property row with his niece.

This has brought the county under shame, with some wondering why he has not opted for better means of solving the case rather than engage his nieces in a court battle.

To give him the time to do away with the matter, he is likely to be shown the door in 2022.

He will also have it hard resecuring the seat in the instance that County Director of Special Programs and former Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga joins the race.

As a sister of Raila who enjoys close to absolute support in the region, Ruth's entrance in the 2022 race will most likely throw out the county boss.
