Former Moi University Students Organization (MUSO) Secretary-General Moses Tisa has accused Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino of killing comradeship in universities.
According to Tisa who is also the chair of Kenyan Universities Students Organization (KUSO), Babu Owino has failed to fulfil the promises he made to the university students when he was being elected as an MP.
“Babu Owino went to parliament and promised that he was going to change the constitution specifically the Duale’s draft. Remember we are suffering today under the Duale’s draft because of this same Babu Owino. Babu Owino killed comradeship," scoffed Tisa.
Duale's draft put in place the election system in universities where students elect the delegates who in turn elect the Students Governing Council.
"He has never tabled even a single bill in the parliament to fight for comrades who pushed him into power. The only bill he has ever tabled is ‘Tibim’ and ‘Tialala’ which can never change our lives,” the strongly opinionated student leader noted.
Last week, the Embakasi East MP restarted efforts to reintroduce the popular vote system returns to universities when they hold elections.
Tisa who is also the communications director in Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti’s office youth wing believes Johnson Sakaja and Mutula Kilonzo Junior are the only MPs who are considerate about matters affecting youths.
“The only people I have heard talking about youths in parliament are Johnson Sakaja and Mutula Kilonzo Junior. But Babu Owino has turned against the comrades,” Tisa added.
He also advised youths to be active in national politics so as to take part in shaping the future of the country.
