Why Governor Ngilu is happy after Uhuru’s Machakos visit
President Uhuru Kenyatta has launched the National Identification Management System (NIIMS) in Machakos County.
The president led top national government officials and a section of Ukambani leaders in the exercise at Masii grounds on Tuesday.
During the launch that was televised live on KBC, President Uhuru Kenyatta said the system database will contain information of all Kenyan citizens and foreign nationals residing in the country.
The President also revealed that the system will serve as a reference point and ease service delivery to Kenyans.
Leaders and politicians present at the launch lauded the system and urged Kenyans to register.
Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu criticized politicians and individuals opposing the ‘HudumaNumba’ system.
The governor even asked the president Kenyatta to deport people opposed to the system.
“Mheshimiwa Rais, hao watu wotoe Kenya. Hao ndio wanarudisha Kenya nyuma (Mr President Sir, eject these people since they are the ones dragging our country behind),” Governor Ngilu said in the televised event.
Ngilu lauded the system saying it will help the national government in planning and executing key development projects.
It was joy for the Kitui governor when president declared Kenyatta that henceforth , uniforms for all chiefs and their assistants across the country will be produced by the Kitui County Textile Center (KICOTEC).
Ngilu went to her Twitter account to celebrate the president’s order saying, “I’m gratified by the declaration by H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta today at the launch of #HudumaNamba that henceforth , uniforms for all chiefs will be produced by the Kitui County Textile Center (KICOTEC). We say a big thank you Mr President.”
