Nominated Member of Parliament Godfrey Osotsi has been the latest leader to welcome opposition chief Raila Odinga's recent African Union (AU) special envoy nomination.
Speaking during this year's edition of Mashujaa day celebrations at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Saturday, the former Premier confirmed his nomination to lead the AU infrastructure department.
And in an interview on Milele FM's 'Kivumbi' on Thursday morning, Osotsi faulted a section of leaders allied to the ruling Jubilee party who are now pushing for Raila's exit from local politics.
Basing on the many links and connections set to come with the new continental job, Osotsi observed that the veteran leader's victory is almost guaranteed in his anticipated participation in the approaching 2022 presidential race.
"Huu uteuzi utampa nguvu mpya na kama kuna wakati lazima awe kwenye debe ni wakati huu (he must be in the ballot because his win is guaranteed)," he said.
"The nomination has strengthened him, and brings with it international relations and backing," he added.
Raila has, however, remained quiet on his 2022 plans, after losing to President Uhuru Kenyatta in the previous 2017 presidential race.
He has repeatedly called upon fellow politicians to not dwell on his ambitions but instead concentrate on service delivery to Kenyans.
