Besides the main agenda of the university being education, there are other great things that make everyone feel the impact of the transition of moving from high school to an institution of higher learning.

Relationships and lifestyle are some of the things that totally change at this stage, and as this week starts, social activities at the campus will be at their peak.

This week marks the start of the new semester of the 2018/2019 study year. Students have been away from the school since early August, and you can imagine how much they missed being at the campus after a long stay at home.

Form four leavers will also be joining the university in the course of the week, meaning there will be a number of activities happening at the campus.

Students will be given some time to turn their focus from home to their academics, and this week's 'break' will give them a chance to engage in various activities.

Here are some of the activities that will be taking place in KU this week:

1. Lovers will be reconciling

Some students engage in short-term dating where at the end of the semester they stop talking to each other, or rather break up, only to resume their relationship when the new semester starts. Distance is also another thing that separates lovers when the semester ends. This week will provide an opportunity for lovers at the school to reconcile.

2. 'Exiles'

Exile is when your roommate comes in with his or her lover and asks you to leave the room for them to have some 'quiet time' together. Exiles can either be overnight or during the day. After reconciliation, love is always at its peak, which means several students will be exiled by their roommates.

3. Old students chasing after 'freshers'

This is a very common phenomenon at the campus. New arrivals are treated like 'hotcakes' at the campus. Helping a fresher locate where she can buy food is a trick that is commonly used by 'team mafisi'.

4. Breakups

Some campus guys divert their attention to freshers and forget about their old flames, which leads to abrupt breakups. Most of the ladies who get dumped during this period are usually in their second year of study.

5. Partying and drinking

Students party a lot when they have a lot of money and at the start of the semester, money is always available, as the majority of the students are given pocket money by their parents.
