Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has been arrested.
Kidero was arrested on Thursday morning at his Muthaiga home following a raid at his Gigiri home by EACC detectives from 2 am Thursday.
The detectives are reportedly said to have been seeking to look for cash and documents allegedly stuffed in the house.
In August, Kidero was arrested alongside seven other people over allegations of over allegations of misuse of public funds at the Nairobi City County government.
Among those arrested at the time are Lilian Wanjiru Ndegwa (Former County Secretary), Jimmy Mutuku Kiamba (Former CFO), Stephen Ogaga Osiro (Former head of County Treasury)and Luke Mugo Gatimu (Ag Chief Officer Finance).
Others were Maurice Ochieng Okere (Ag Head of County Treasury), Gregory Mwakanongo (CEC Member- Finance & Economic Planning), John Githua Njogu (Lodwar Wholesalers/Ngurumani Traders Ltd), Grace Njeri Githua (Lodwar (Wholesalers/Ngurumani Traders Ltd).
When he appeared before Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti on August 9, 2018, he denied charges of abuse of office which led to the loss of Sh213,327,300 between January 16, 2014, and January 25, 2016.
He was released on Sh2 million cash bail.
