Deputy President William Ruto should go to the ground and ask Kenyans for their will for his to lead Kenya in future, former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has said.
On Sunday in Molo, Kabogo who made a surprise appearance, said Ruto should put his machinery together instead of waiting for endorsement by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"I want to tell Ruto that he should not wait for endorsement. That's a bit archaic. Let him go to the ground and ask votes for people. It's people who elect leaders," Kabogo said.
He added: " It's these people here who will decide your fate. If you can't, then you'll not be required to complain for losing. These army here is bitter, it cannot be taken for granted."
Dr Ruto has been campaigning to replace Uhuru, who has often warned against early campaigns. Mr Kabogo said he's not aware of any arrangements by Uhuru to dump DP Ruto.
He also hailed the decision by China to cancel a loan of Sh368 billion meant for construction of SGR from Naivasha to Kisumu. Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta struggled to obtain the loan last week.
"I prayed for Raila and Uhuru not to get the loan. I thank God my prayers were heard. They did not get what they wanted. Our people are hungry. That was a reprieve," he added.
Mr Kabogo has previously expressed reservations against supporting Ruto, claiming that the latter orchastrared his loss in Jubilee party primaries in 2017.
