They are said to be pitching camp at several refugee camps in North Eastern.

Last week detectives arrested 12 suspected terrorists at the Dadaab refugee camp.

The 12 are allegedly linked to the January 15 DusitD2 terror attack that left 21 people dead and others injured at 14 Riverside in Nairobi.

According to detectives, the suspects were arrested in possession of deadly weapons.

Dadaab and Hagadera refugee camps in Garissa are the focal points as sleuths move to flush out terror suspects and their sympathisers.

On Friday last week, North Eastern Regional Coordinator Mohamed Birik said that security has been heightened in the region.

In a briefing with journalists at his Garissa office, Birik said more specialised forces have been deployed on the border with Somalia.

He also revealed that police reservists have been deployed to villages since they understand the terrain and suspected terrorist hideouts.

“We are firmly on the ground and our plan is to block the terrorists and their agents from entering into the country,” he said.

Birik also asked parents and guardians who have missing children to urgently report.

He observed that they are investigating cases where young people are crossing over to Somalia to join Al-Shabaab.

The Regional Coordinator warned parents, saying that failure to report their missing children will see them arrested and treated as terrorists.

North Eastern and especially Garissa County in the recent years been hit with deadly terror attacks.

The April 2, 2015 attack at the Garissa University College left 147 students dead and others injured.

The attack was the worst in the country’s history and was condemned by leaders across the globe.

Security has since been heightened at the university and the larger Northern Kenya region.
