Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wah has reacted to Deputy President William Ruto's assassination claims.
In a tweet on Monday, the Jubilee legislator noted that one of the Principal Secretaries (PS) in the Jubilee government has in the recent past been instructing county police commanders and commissioners to pull out security officers from DP Ruto's events.
"@ntvkenya @MarkMasai We have reports in the recent past of a PS instructing county police commanders and commissioners to withdraw security from @WilliamsRuto functions across the country. Any relation to the assassination threat now? #presspass," he tweeted.
Ichung'wah is one of the Mt Kenya MPs in Ruto's camp.
On Monday, various Mt Kenya Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) were summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over allegations of holding meetings to plot the assassination of Ruto so that he doesn't take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta when his second term comes to an end in 2022.
Some of the CSs who were summoned include; Peter Munya (Trade), Sicily Kariuki (Health), Joe Mucheru (ICT) and James Macharia (Transport).
Three of the CSs who reported to the DCI offices on Monday refused to record statements claiming that there was no written complaint that would have made them record their statements other than the phone conversation that Ruto had with DCI boss George Kinoti.
Speaking to journalists outside the DCI offices in Nairobi, CS Munya asked Ruto to stop making such allegations without concrete proof.
