A middle-aged man has gone into hiding after he allegedly impregnated his elder brother's daughter.
The incident happened in Nyatieko, Kitutu Chache South in Kisii County.
Area chief Lawrence Omari told hivisasa.com on Thursday that the suspect Isaiah Morira, a married man, disappeared from his home after his niece who is in class 7 revealed to her parents that he was responsible for her pregnancy.
"The girl fell ill and was taken to Iranda health centre for treatment where she was confirmed to be three months pregnant. Upon being questioned by her parents, she revealed that it was Morira who impregnated her," said the chief.
The administrator stated that immediately the girl's parents reported the matter to his office and a search for the suspect was launched.
"The suspect got wind that I was looking for him for arrest and he fled from home without his wife's knowledge. His mobile phone is not going through and no one from the family knows the whereabouts of him," Omari said.
He asked that the suspect whenever he is hiding to surrender to the nearest police station.
