A man was lynched on Wednesday by bodaboda riders after allegedly stealing a motorbike.
The deceased identified as Omweri reportedly hid the motorbike at his house before he was nabbed.
Angry bodaboda riders led by Geoffrey Mogire stormed Omweri's house after a tip from neighbors.
"His neighbor told us that he was hiding a motorbike in his house which was stolen from one of our colleague last week. We stormed the house and found the motorbike hidden there," said Mogire.
Mr. Mogire said the riders got angry when Omweri tried to escape instead of defending himself.
"We were angered by him when he tried to escape by jumping a fence. We chased after him and lynched him," he said.
Area administrator Dismas Marubi said Omweri succumbed following the serious burn injuries he sustained.
"Omweri could not survive because he sustained serious burn injuries. His body was taken to Nyamira County hospital morgue," he said.
He warned locals against taking the law into their hands adding that authorities should be respected.
