The Bill was passed at National Assembly on Thursday when the MPs held a special sitting over the 8 per cent VAT on fuel tax on petrol.

Despite majority of the lawmakers opposing the Bill, it was passed after it emerged that the number of the MPs present were 215 from the required 233 MPs.

Nyamira residents have reacted from the Head of State's rush to sign the Bill.

"This is what Uhuru wanted. Let him continue stealing from us because we will suffer with the people who voted him," said Ann Nyarangi.

Abel Mokua said Uhuru has failed to fight graft and instead reverted into burdening Kenyans.

"There is nothing we can celebrate as a country because the president who should bring down the cost of living is the same person who wants kill poor citizens. He has signed into law the Bill which even MPs from his Jubilee party opposed openly," he said.

Kefah Moenga, a youth leader from Manga stated that graduate youths will be the most affected.

"Uhuru can't create jobs for the youths as he promised. He has put his stomach first," he said.
