Controversial Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has recommended Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to embark on a benchmarking mission in Kisumu and learn a few things about developing a county from his counterpart Anyang' Nyong'o.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Kuria outlined three major issues that the Nairobi county boss should focus on.

"If I were Governor Mike Sonko, I would suspend all programmes and just focus on three things namely 1. Keep Nairobi clean. Perhaps visit Kisumu for a benchmark. Kisumu is incredibly clean. Governor Anyang' Nyong'o is working. 2. Implement the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). 3. Implement intracity Light Rail system. Rest can come up later,'' wrote Moses Kuria.

According to the controversial Jubilee legislator, Kisumu has a cleaner environment and smoother transport network compared to Nairobi.

Kuria warned that Nairobi will lose its position in the African continent if the transport system and sanitation are not looked into.

''Nairobi will lose its regional competitiveness unless we have a functional public transport system. And this is not about building more roads. It's about ensuring we have a system that brings into and out of the city the highest number of people with the highest standards of convenience. The traffic jams in this city can drive anyone insane,'' Kuria wrote.

Kuria argues that Sonko should stop focusing on building more roads and concentrate more on cleaning the city and roll out the Bus Rapid Transit to deal with the public transport menace.
