The firebrand Senator led a team of other Senators in questioning Moi, who has declared interest in the presidency come 2022.

However, the Baringo Senator's reaction angered Mutula and other Senators who asked Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki to let the debate “proceed in the spirit of public interest”.

The Senators faulted Moi for trying to scuttle the debate over undisclosed reactions. Mutula asked Moi to come clean on whether he was a business partner with the owners of the dam.

“The senator has failed to declare his interest on this matter. Is he a business partner with Patel or any of the witnesses?” Kilonzo Jr asked.

The Makueni Senator insisted that Moi was not right to state that the issue was not in any way sub-judice.

" What Gideon does not know is the principle of sub-judice is weighed against the public interest," Mutula retorted.

The matter has continued to elicited different reactions from a number of leaders. Residents and leaders have been calling for a faster probe into the matter.

In May, the dam collapsed killing more than 40 persons in the region. Perry Mansukh, owner of Patel dam in Solai was arrested following the incident.
