A male and female secondary school students were on Saturday caught having sex in a lodging at Nyamira.
It is not clear how the students, who are said to be in boarding schools, found their way out of school.
“I spotted the two making their way into the lodging and raised alarm. We raided the lodging later and found them having sex.
"The lodging attendant knocked the door they opened and we threatened to beat them up when they revealed that they were students,” said Lawrence Gichana.
Gichana said the students were given strokes of canes before they they left the lodging facility.
“We had to cane them and warned them against engaging in illicit sex. Lodging attendants must not allow underage to book rooms for such acts,” he said.
Area Nyumba Kumi official Boniface Okenye blamed parents such incidents.
Okenye said students who will be found loitering in town during school time will be arrested and taken to court.
