FORD Kenya Secretary General Eseli Simiyu has dragged President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga into the contraband sugar report.
According to Simiyu, the two leaders should be blamed for rejection of the report by MPs on Thursday last week.
Speaking on NTV, Simiyu said that the handshake played a vital in rejection of the report.
"John Mbadi the Minority leader was more vociferous than Aden Duale the Majority leader which just shows you how the Opposition had lost focus. Some of our members confused the handshake thinking it was a call to stop us from doing oversight," Eseli said.
He noted that it was a shame that such a report could be adopted yet it touched a vital section of Kenya's economy.
A section of MPs have come under sharp criticism for allegedly being bribed to reject the report.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has said that lawmakers found guilty will be prosecuted by relevant bodies.
The MPs are alleged to have received bribes ranging between Sh10, 000 and Sh30, 000 to reject the report that absolved Treasury CS Henry Rotich and Industrialization counterpart Aden Mohammed.
