Speculations about Raila Odinga's official position in government could rest after President Uhuru Kenyatta's representative Monica Juma addressed the issue for the first time.
In recent weeks, Raila has been representing Uhuru in foreign tours, a job normally designated to Ms. Juma, the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary.
And at his offices on Thursday, Juma said Raila was representing government in his capcity as former Prime Minister.
"The stature of a former Prime Minister in any country is guaranteed. That is why he is receiving those courtesies as provided for internationally.
"Anybody can deliver the president's message. He is is a statesman and can represent the country anywhere," she said.
Since the March 9th surprise handshake, Raila has been enjoying state power with some sources intimating that he is Kenya's special envoy.
At the moment, Raila is out of the country and has been representing President Uhuru in India where he is expected to jet back on Friday.
