The appointment of former Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Ndegwa Muhoro by President Uhuru Kenyatta as the new Ambassador for Kenya to Malaysia could suffer a major blow if threats by a prominent city lawyer are anything to go by.

Ahmednasir Abdullahi, who was Uhuru's lead lawyer in the presidential petitions at the Supreme Court last year, criticised Muhoro's posting and termed it as an 'insult' to the people of Malaysia.

"Can't believe that H.E UHURU has nominated former CID Director Ndegwa Muhoro to be our High Commissioner to Kuala Lumpur...it is an insult to the Malaysian people," he said.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Abdullahi vowed to ensure the former DCI boss does not get the lucrative job by petitioning Malaysian leaders including Head of State Sultan Muhammad V and opposition politician Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim.

"I will personally write a petition to the Prime Minister of Malaysia and Dr Anwar Ibrahim to reject Mr Muhoro as Kenya's representative to Kuala Lumpur. He is unworthy of presenting his credentials to Sultan Muhammad V," the senior counsel added.

In April 2017, Abdullahi sensationally claimed that Muhoro wanted to kill him over his strong stand in a dispute on a multi-million shillings Tatu City land case, an allegation the latter termed as lies and malicious.
