Ms. Irene Aisha told the Mombasa Court that her ex-lover Steven Mzee Thomas together with his friend, Steven Otieno Okalu gang-raped her, stabbed her before she was tied to a rail track.

The court heard that the two accused persons, who are facing attempted murder charges, committed the offense on February 3, 2017, at around 4:00 am.

The two who are said to be her neighbors and her childhood friends attacked her while she was walking home alone.

Ms Aisha said the trouble started when her ex-lover previously had wanted to take away her son but she refused.

The mother of a five-year-old son said during the attack, she was stabbed by Okalu and then the two proceeded to rape her before she was tied on the tail truck to be crushed by a speeding train.

Ms Aisha who was three months pregnant lost both her legs near the hips after she was run over by the train.

“I was attacked at night and by Okalu when I demanded to know why they were attacking me. They raped me and then tied me on the rails and left me there to be run over by the train,”

“The train was approaching quickly so I struggled to at least move my body off the rail but I only managed to release the upper body and the train crushed both my lower limbs,” she said as quoted by standardmedia.co.ke.

She was rescued by good Samaritans and rushed to Makadara but the doctors were on strike and she was transferred to Aga Khan Hospital where she was admitted for a month and the doctors amputated both her legs.

Mombasa principle magistrate Henry Nyakweba ordered that the two accused persons be detained at Shimo la Tewa prison.

The case will be heard on November 20.
