A month after being kicked out by Governor James Ongwae over what he termed as 'childish behavior', youthful minister Duke Mainga resumed his duties on Thursday.
In what caused jitters among the youths, Ongwae suspended Mainga, claiming that his childish behavior was intolerable. No further details were given with regard to the suspension.
But on Thursday, Mainga was pictured in his offices and even went on to chair a serious of meetings, an indication that he's back on duty. Ongwae had tasked him to apologise.
"Orphans and other vulnerable children face the highest risk of sexual molestation and violence mostly propagated by sex predators in the society. Many of these predators actually pose as guardians and ‘caregivers.’
'This morning, I chaired a meeting of the county multisectoral group dealing with matters children specifically focusing on the OVCs and developed ways through which we will approach this menace once and for all.The County Government of Kisii is dedicated to ensuring an emotionally, spiritually and morally upright child," he wrote shortly after chairing a meeting.
A section of youths took into social media to laud Ongwae for lifting the suspension. Some asked the youthful minister to consult widely elders before undertaking actions that could put him in trouble.
The former Kisii University Entertainment boss became the youngest Kenyan to be appointed to a county cabinet in 2017, aged 27 years. Some of his achievements include refurbishing of Gusii Stadium, lobbying for county government and county assembly sports to be held in his county among others.
