Everton has joined a host of other clubs fighting to sign Liverpool striker Divock Origi. Origi, who starred for Liverpool in his first season at the club has found the going rather tough and was shipped out on loan by coach Jurgen Klopp.
There were said to be serious bids for the Belgian international striker, who was on a season-long loan at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
Among the clubs said to be battling for his signature include Spanish side Valencia and Germany’s Borussia Dortmund.
Early last month, Origi's father Mike Okoth said his son would fight to remain at Anfield, and was willing to be patient.
“Dortmund and Valencia showed good interest but they couldn’t match what Liverpool wanted and there was no way Divock was going out on loan again so he will have to fight for his place,” Okoth, 50, said.
“In football, you shouldn’t live in past glory but always fight to be the best and to be relevant on the day,” added Okoth.
Origi's future seems to be lying away from Liverpool, with the club having signed new players including; Naby Keita, snapped up from Leipzig, Swiss international winger Xherdan Shaqiri, formerly at Stoke City, and Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker formerly with Italy’s AS Roma.
