Barely a month after President Uhuru Kenyatta proposed the anti-graft lifestyle audit technique to curb the menace in the public sector, a number of leaders have already come out in full support of the proposal.
The latest one is Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa, who has expressed his willingness and readiness to be audited in line with the Head of State’s directive.
Speaking on Radio Jambo on Saturday, the opposition’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator, however, noted that the same should apply to all state officers and not end at the political level.
He said that the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga-led political front is fully behind the President on the issue and fully backs his war against corruption.
‘’Mimi niko tayari kuchunguzwa lakini lazima kila mtu achunguzwe na sio wabunge pekee (I am ready for the audit, but it has to be conducted on all state officials and not politicians only),’’ he said.
‘’Kwa niaba ya chama changu cha ODM nasema tunamuunga Rais mkono (on behalf of the ODM party, I pledge support for the President),’’ added the Nairobi County ODM chair.
He further warned corrupt individuals against downplaying the President’s warnings, saying that he has demonstrated his commitment and will soon spearhead the prosecution of the criminals.
‘’Rais ako rada, wasidhani ni mchezo maana anaongea na authority na baada ya muda kidogo itakua wakati wa kukamata watu (the President is alert and serious on this one, let no one take it as a joke as soon people will start landing behind bars),’’ said Aladwa.
