A Kisii based Jubilee politician has told off politicians busy politicizing the death of athletics legend Nyantika Mayioro.
Steve Arika challenged politicians to help the deceased family to give the late a good send off.
"We should accord Nyantika his deserved respect because he represented the country in athletics during his time. People must stop playing politics over his death," he said.
The vocal politician urged well wishers and politicians to support the family in the burial preparation.
"The family is in pain after the loss. Leaders must join hands and give financial support to ensure the deceased send-off is descent," he added.
Arika challenged Kisii County government to honor the athletics legend since he build the name of the community during that time he represented the country in athletics.
Nyantika died on Sunday evening at Christa Marianne hospital where he was hospitalized for treatment.
He succumbed to tuberculosis aged 88 years.
A section of leaders have since sent condolence messages to the family. Some of the leaders who have condoled the family include Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i, Kisii Governor James Ongwae, Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi among others.
