Police in Migori County are probing an incident where a man allegedly died after being locked inside a toilet.
26-year old Edgah Omaeh reportedly lost his life after being locked inside the washroom as a punishment for failing to pay a Sh 350 bar bill.
The incident is said to have happened on Sunday night at a bar in Kehancha Town, Kuria West constituency.
Confirming the incident, Kuria West OCPD Saiya Baraza noted that several witnesses have since been questioned in line with the incident.
He added that the deceased was later found lifeless Monday morning, with the positioning of his body indicating that he might have made attempts to escape.
"According to the information we have the man had gone into the bar on Sunday night at around 10 pm but after drinking alcohol he was unable to pay the bill,” the police boss who, however, refused to name the bar was quoted by the Standard.
"He was locked in the toilet by the bar attendants so that he could sober up and pay the bill but unfortunately he died. We are investigating to establish the truth” he is further quoted.
He noted that all suspects in the killing will be subjected to the full force of the law.
The body has since been moved to the Migori Level Four Hospital pending autopsy.
