A 25-year-old man in Bogwendo village in Nyaikuro, Manga in Nyamira County on Sunday killed himself after a fight with his elder brother over a woman.
Locals said the deceased Peter Nyakundi took poison few hours after he engaged in a physical fight with his brother, Amos Oyieyo.
"Nyakundi fought Oyieyo after he realized Oyieyo has been sleeping with a woman he wanted to marry. Oyioyo overpowered him during the scuffle," said a local Philip Motari.
Mr. Motari said the deceased threatened to take his own life after the fight.
"Nyakundi living true to his threats he took a bottle full of poison and drunk. His body was found lying on a sofa set in his house by his young sister who went to wake him up so that he can eat lunch," said Motari.
Area assistant chief, Emmanuel Nyaribo said an alarm was raised and members of the public arrived at the house and found Nyakundi dead.
"It is sad that we lost Nyakundi prematurely. Members of the public should stop taking suicide as the last option when faced with difficulties in life," he said.
The chief said the body of the deceased was taken to Nyamira County Hospital morgue.
